2012 was a
great year for the Woodford Humane Society; our already-high placement rate was
even higher than it has been in years past, our pets stayed healthier and
happier, and we got to see more than a few long-term residents go home. That’s hard to top, so we’re looking to the
wisdom of our furry (and sometimes feathery or scaly) friends to help us make
2013 better still. Here’s what we
learned.
In 2013 we
will:
Purr loudly
and for no reason, just to brighten someone’s day.
Always share
our toys – tug o’ war gets old pretty fast when you won’t let anybody grab the
other end of the rope.
Cuddle a
kitty every day. It keeps them happy,
and it keeps us young; our cageless cat colony rooms are practically the
fountain of youth.
Enjoy the
treats life tosses our way – our favorite treats are the wonderful volunteers,
adopters, and supporters who keep us going…but we hear milkbones are pretty
good, too.
Stop to
smell the flowers. And then eat the
flowers. We haven’t figured out why
that’s so important, but our pets insist it is.
Put on the
ThunderShirt of family and friends when things get stormy, because nothing
makes you feel better than a hug.
Be the
ThunderShirt for others when they’re weathering their own storms.
Nap in
sunbeams to save on heating costs.
But most
important of all: Go home! Sit! Stay! We
will find loving, wonderful homes for hundreds of our furry friends, of all
shapes, sizes, and ages, who have taught us so much about living life to the
fullest.
Thanks to
all of the people and pets who made 2012 a success for us at Woodford
Humane! 2013 is off to a great start,
and we know that with your help (and a little wisdom from our furry friends) it
will be a huge success. To find out how
you can get involved, give us a call at 859.873.5491 or drop us a line at manager@woodfordhumane.org.
Oh, and one
last thing: we’re finally going to catch that red dot.
